Who can volunteer?
You love everything about the ocean – the waves, the
reefs, the lifestyle. Your perfect day is a day spent in the
water. You are passionate about conserving the marine environment
for future generations and willing to make sacrifices in order
to do so. You are not above hard work for a good cause. You
are excited to continue your education in marine science.
You realize that reading from textbooks is a good place to
start, but that nothing can replace hands-on field experience.
You do not want to sit and watch as life passes you by. You
want to change the world, but don’t know where to begin.
Begin with the Aitutaki Lagoon Monitoring Project.
A day in the life of an
ALMP Volunteer:
Watch the sun rise over the open Pacific ocean while enjoying
a fresh fruit breakfast.
Join in on a team meeting to discuss the day’s goals.
Break into buddy teams and organize your research gear for
the day.
Spend the day SCUBA diving, reef walking or snorkeling in
one of the world’s most beautiful lagoons.
Return to camp and clean gear as the catch of the day is prepared
for supper.
Relax and enjoy your unparalleled view as the sun slips below
the horizon.
Partake in an evening bonfire; read a good book; or stargaze
the evening away.
Go the sleep with the knowledge that today you made a difference.
In this moment, you are changing the world.
